Vigil Held for Slain Surrey, BC, Woman Tori Dunn Mourners gathered at Surrey’s Holland Park on Tuesday evening for a vigil in memory of Tori Dunn, the 26-year-old woman who was tragically murdered earlier this month. Dunn’s family, friends, and community members held candles and shared heartfelt tributes. Her father, Jon Dunn, described his daughter as a “kind, loving, and compassionate soul” who always put others before herself. “She had a smile that could light up a room and a laugh that was infectious,” he said. “She was our sunshine, our everything.” Dunn’s friends spoke about her passion for life and her love for her family. They recalled her as a talented artist, a caring friend, and an advocate for social justice. “Tori was never afraid to stand up for what she believed in,” said her close friend, Sarah Walker. “She was a voice for the voiceless and a beacon of hope in our darkest times.” The vigil also included a moment of silence to honor Dunn’s memory and a call for action to end violence against women. “Tori’s life was cut short far too soon,” said Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum. “As a community, we must come together to ensure that no other family has to endure the pain and suffering that the Dunn family has gone through.” Investigators continue to search for the suspect in Dunn’s murder. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has released a composite sketch of a person of interest but no arrests have been made. The vigil served as a reminder of the devastating impact that violence against women has on families and communities. It also sparked a renewed call for increased support for victims and survivors, as well as for strong measures to prevent such tragedies from happening again.A vigil was held Wednesday night in Surrey, BC, for Tori Dunn, a 22-year-old woman who was found dead in her apartment on Monday. Dunn’s friends and family gathered at a park near her home to remember her and call for an end to violence against women. “Tori was a beautiful, kind-hearted soul who didn’t deserve this,” said her friend, Sarah Jones. “We are all heartbroken and devastated by her loss.” Dunn’s death is being investigated by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT). No arrests have been made. IHIT is asking for the public’s help in solving the case. Anyone with information is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Dunn’s death is the latest in a string of violent attacks against women in the Lower Mainland. In 2022, there were 12 homicides of women in the region, up from eight in 2021. The increase in violence has prompted calls for action from women’s groups and advocates. They are calling for increased funding for prevention programs and support services for victims of violence. “We need to do more to protect women and girls from violence,” said Fay Blaney, executive director of the Ending Violence Association of BC. “We can’t afford to lose any more lives.”
