The map provides information on over 1,000 breweries, wineries, wine shops, distilleries, and other local Ontario vendors, including LCBO Convenience Outlets, The Beer Store, and licensed grocery stores. Users can access the map online to find locations that sell beer, wine, cider, spirits, or ready-to-drink beverages. The map will be updated regularly as alcohol sales expand to more licensed grocery and convenience stores. Premier Doug Ford emphasized that despite the LCBO strike, there are ample options for purchasing alcoholic beverages, including products made in Ontario itself. The map was created to assist consumers in locating open stores and their offerings. The strike by LCBO workers, the first in the retail chain’s history, has led to increased demand at LCBO convenience stores. Some workers have expressed concerns about potential consequences if the alcohol market is privatized, citing the training and expertise of LCBO employees in responsible alcohol sales. The strike has resulted in the closure of LCBO retail stores for 14 days, although online orders remain available with free home delivery but subject to product limits. If the strike persists beyond two weeks, the LCBO plans to open 32 branches with limited hours on three days a week. In May, the Ford government announced that beer, wine, and ready-to-drink cocktails would be sold in Ontario convenience stores beginning next month.
