Chiefs Welcome Coach Nabi and Coaching Staff Kansas City, Missouri – The Kansas City Chiefs are thrilled to announce the appointment of Peter Vermes as their new head coach. Vermes, a former professional soccer player and highly successful coach, brings a wealth of experience and tactical acumen to the organization. “Peter is a proven winner with a deep understanding of the game,” said Chiefs Owner and Chairman Clark Hunt. “We are confident that he will lead our team to new heights.” Vermes has had a distinguished coaching career, most notably with Sporting Kansas City, where he led the team to two MLS Cups and four U.S. Open Cups. He also has extensive international experience, coaching the United States U-20 Men’s National Team at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Accompanying Vermes to Kansas City is a highly respected coaching staff. Assistant coaches Bob Gansler and Iain Brunskill will join the Chiefs from Sporting Kansas City, bringing their technical expertise and familiarity with Vermes’ system. Nabi, a former assistant coach at Mamelodi Sundowns, was unveiled at a press conference on Monday alongside his technical team. The 45-year-old Nabi has signed a three-year contract with Chiefs and will be tasked with leading the club to success in both domestic and continental competitions. He brings with him a wealth of experience having worked under some of the top coaches in the country, including Pitso Mosimane and Steve Komphela. Nabi’s technical team includes assistant coach Shaun Bartlett, goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter, and fitness coach Rui Mota. The team has been working together since the beginning of pre-season and has already made a positive impact on the players. “I am very excited to be here at Chiefs and I am looking forward to the challenge,” said Nabi. “I have a great team of staff with me and we are all working hard to prepare the team for the upcoming season.” Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung welcomed Nabi to the club and said that he is confident that he is the right man to lead the team to success. “We are very happy to have Patrick Nabi as our new coach,” said Motaung. “He is a young coach with a lot of potential and we believe that he has what it takes to succeed at Chiefs.” Nabi’s first game in charge of Chiefs will be the MTN8 quarter-final against Maritzburg United on August 13.
