FIA Launches ‘FIA Helmet Programme’
The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has launched the ‘FIA Helmet Programme’, a global initiative aimed at improving helmet safety and reducing injuries in motorsport. The programme will provide helmets to drivers in lower-level categories who may not otherwise have access to high-quality head protection. Research has shown that helmets play a crucial role in reducing the severity of head injuries in motorsport accidents. The FIA Helmet Programme aims to ensure that all drivers, regardless of their experience or budget, have access to safe and effective helmets. “The FIA Helmet Programme is a vital initiative that will have a real impact on driver safety,” said FIA President Jean Todt. “We are committed to improving safety at all levels of motorsport, and this programme is a key part of that effort.” The FIA Helmet Programme will be implemented in partnership with the FIA’s national sporting authorities and regional clubs. Helmets will be distributed to drivers in categories ranging from karting to grassroots motorsport events. “We are grateful to the FIA for launching this important programme,” said David Ward, President of the FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety. “Helmets are essential safety equipment, and this programme will help ensure that more drivers have access to the best possible protection.” The FIA Helmet Programme is part of the FIA’s broader commitment to improving safety in motorsport. The FIA has been a pioneer in developing new safety technologies and promoting best practices for decades. “The FIA Helmet Programme is a testament to the FIA’s commitment to safety,” said Todt. “We will continue to work tirelessly to improve safety in motorsport at all levels.”
