Denver’s Snowplow Fleet Deploys for Winter StormDenver’s Snowplow Fleet Deploys for Winter Storm As the frigid grip of winter descends upon Denver, the city’s snowplow fleet has been deployed to combat the impending storm. The fleet of over 200 snowplows will work tirelessly to keep the city’s streets passable, ensuring the safety and mobility of its residents. Beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, snowplows will begin plowing major arterial roads, followed by residential streets as conditions warrant. Priority will be given to routes used by buses and emergency vehicles. Residents are urged to park their vehicles off the street to allow plows to clear snow effectively. Vehicles parked on the street may be ticketed or towed to facilitate snow removal. “Our snowplow fleet is ready and prepared to respond to this winter storm,” said Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. “We urge residents to stay home if possible and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm.” The City of Denver has implemented a comprehensive snow removal plan to minimize disruption to daily life. The plan includes: * Pre-treating roads with salt to prevent snow and ice from adhering * Deploying snowplows as needed to clear major and residential streets * Monitoring weather forecasts and adjusting operations accordingly * Coordinating with other agencies, such as the Colorado Department of Transportation, to ensure a coordinated response Residents are encouraged to monitor the city’s website and social media accounts for updates on road conditions and snow removal progress. They can also report snow- and ice-related issues through the city’s 311 service. “The safety of our residents and visitors is our top priority,” said Dennis Dougherty, Director of Denver Public Works. “We have a dedicated team of snowplow operators who will work around the clock to keep our streets clear and safe.” As the winter storm approaches, Denver residents are reminded to follow these safety tips: * Stay informed about weather forecasts and road conditions * Avoid unnecessary travel during the storm * If driving, reduce speed, increase following distance, and be prepared for slick road conditions * Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle with items such as food, water, blankets, and a first-aid kit
