This+is+how+Sauti+Sol+singer+Willis+Chimano+paid+tribute+to+artist+Njambi+‘Jahmby’+Koikai,+who+was+buried+in+Langata+Cemetery+on+Friday,+June+14.

Recalling+the+early+days+of+their+music+career,+Chimano+says+that+not+many+people+were+willing+to+support+them+because+of+the+new+type+of+sound+they+were+trying+to+get+attention+with.

Until+they+met+Jahmby+at+the+Alliance+Française.++Alliance+has+always+been+a+home+for+creatives,+and+it+was+during+their+numerous+trips+to+the+institution+to+hone+their+skills+that+they+met+Jahmby+and+a+relationship+was+forged.++“

She+was+our+first+manager+and+she+really+believed+in+us…+She+got+us+going,+organized+our+first+concert.++She+was+our+everything,+she+took+on+the+role+of+manager+when+no+one+else+could,”+adds+Chimano.

With+her+passing+and+much+debate+focused+on+whether+she+received+enough+support+while+she+was+alive,+as+witnessed+in+her+death,+Chimano+urges+fans+not+to+focus+on+that+type+of+politics.

“My+message+would+be+for+people+to+have+a+social+conscience,+help+those+who+really+have+it,+be+there+for+their+friends+and+stand+up+for+what+is+right.++Despite+the+difficult+times+she+went+through,+she+managed+to+keep+her+smile+and+be+there+for+others.”++For+long-time+friend+and+personal+DJ+DJ+Technix,+the+pain+that+enveloped+his+heart+was+that+of+losing+a+sister.

“I+was+Jahmby’s+personal+DJ+for+many+years.++We+travel+far+and+wide+spreading+positive+messages+and+uplifting+inspiration+to+our+fans+around+the+world.++Those+who+knew+Jahmby+knew+that+there+could+be+no+Jahmby+without+Technix.++I+met+Jahmby+in+2006,+when+he+enrolled+as+a+student+at+Black+Supremacy+Sounds+DJ+Academy,+where+I+was+a+tutor.++Since+then,+Jahmby+has+been+my+friend+and+sister.++She+couldn’t+go+a+day+without+calling+me+to+see+how+she+was+doing.++I+have+lost+a+friend+and+my+personal+MC.++God+gives+and+God+takes+away.++Rest+well+Jahmby+Koikai.”
