Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Triumph in IJmuiden Offshore Wind Farm Award

Vattenfall, a leading European energy company, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a global fund manager specializing in renewable energy investments, have emerged victorious in the competitive tender for the IJmuiden offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. Named “See Beta,” the IJmuiden wind farm will comprise 69 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 752 megawatts (MW). Once operational, See Beta is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power approximately 780,000 Dutch households annually. Vattenfall and CIP will jointly develop and operate the offshore wind farm, leveraging their extensive experience in the sector. Vattenfall brings its operational expertise and track record of successfully delivering large-scale renewable energy projects, while CIP contributes its financial capabilities and investment acumen. The IJmuiden wind farm, located approximately 22 kilometers off the coast of North Holland, will play a crucial role in the Netherlands’ ambitious goal of transitioning to a sustainable energy future. The project is part of the country’s broader offshore wind energy expansion plan, aiming to install a total of 11.5 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030. The award of the See Beta wind farm demonstrates the confidence in Vattenfall and CIP’s capabilities to deliver clean and reliable energy to the Netherlands. Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Secure IJmuiden Offshore Wind Farm Contract

Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have been awarded the contract to develop and operate the IJmuiden Ver Offshore Wind Farm (See Beta) in the Netherlands. The project will have a capacity of approximately 750 megawatts (MW). The wind farm will be located approximately 65 kilometers off the coast of IJmuiden and is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 750,000 Dutch households. The project is expected to create approximately 5,000 jobs during construction and operation. Vattenfall will be responsible for the development and construction of the wind farm, while CIP will be responsible for the operation and maintenance. The project is expected to be operational by 2025. The award of the contract is a significant milestone for the development of offshore wind in the Netherlands. The project is expected to contribute to the country’s goal of generating 70% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. The IJmuiden Ver Offshore Wind Farm is the third offshore wind project that Vattenfall and CIP have developed together.
