PWDs in Ketu South Receive Support to Enhance Their Lives Tokor, Volta Region – Some Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) within the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region have received support from the Assembly to improve their livelihoods. The support, in the form of material donations, includes industrial sewing machines, freezers, a laptop computer, swivel chairs, and various human consumables. The value of the items is estimated at GHC210,360.00. Selase Assor, Head of the Ketu South Social Welfare and Community Development Department, explained that the material support introduced in 2017 replaced cash donations after some beneficiaries misused funds given to them. The support aims to ensure a sustainable livelihood for the beneficiaries, who have visual, mobility, hearing, and other disabilities. It also aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10, which seeks to reduce inequality in society by equipping PWDs with skills and materials for integration. Mr. Maxwell Lugudor, Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive, advised the beneficiaries not to sell the items but to put them to good use. He expressed hope that their establishments would expand in the future. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Government of Ghana for the support. They were encouraged to use the items for their intended purpose and integrate into society.People with disabilities in Ketu South, a district in the Volta Region of Ghana, have received support from the government and other organizations to improve their lives. The support includes the provision of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, and hearing aids, as well as training in skills such as bead-making, soap-making, and tailoring. The beneficiaries of the support expressed their gratitude for the assistance, saying that it has made a significant difference in their lives. One beneficiary, a young woman with a physical disability, said that she was now able to move around more easily and attend school regularly. Another beneficiary, a man with a hearing impairment, said that he was now able to communicate more effectively with his family and friends. The government and other organizations that provided the support said that they were committed to improving the lives of people with disabilities in Ketu South and other parts of the country. They urged people with disabilities to take advantage of the support that is available to them and to work towards achieving their full potential.
