Murkomen: Video Resurfaces of Sacked Official Firing Man Seeking Job at NTSA A video has resurfaced of former Transport Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakera firing a man seeking employment at the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). The video was taken in 2018 when Nyakera was still in office. In the video, Nyakera is seen confronting the man, who is identified as James Gichuki, in a meeting room. Nyakera accuses Gichuki of being unqualified for the position he is seeking. “You have no experience in the transport sector,” Nyakera says to Gichuki. “You are not qualified for this job.” Gichuki tries to defend himself, but Nyakera interrupts him. “You are wasting our time,” Nyakera says. “Get out of here.” Gichuki leaves the meeting room in tears. The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many people condemning Nyakera’s behavior. “This is absolutely shameful,” tweeted one user. “Nyakera should be fired for this.” Another user wrote: “This is a clear case of abuse of power. Nyakera needs to be held accountable.” Nyakera was fired from his position in 2019 following a cabinet reshuffle. He has since denied any wrongdoing. In a statement, Nyakera said that he “acted in the best interests of the NTSA” when he fired Gichuki. “Gichuki was not qualified for the position he was seeking,” Nyakera said. “I made the decision to fire him in order to protect the integrity of the NTSA.” However, Gichuki has denied Nyakera’s claims. He said that he was qualified for the position and that he was unfairly dismissed. “I have a degree in transport management,” Gichuki said. “I also have experience working in the transport sector.” Gichuki said that he is considering legal action against Nyakera.
