UNEB Registers Over 1.3 Million Candidates for 2024 Exams The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has registered more than 1.3 million candidates for the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). According to UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo, the total number of registered candidates stands at 1,304,463, marking a slight increase from the 1,277,052 candidates registered in 2023. “For PLE, we have registered 832,651 candidates from 14,151 centers across the country. For UCE, we have registered 333,815 candidates from 4,296 examination centers. And for UACE, we have 137,997 candidates from 1,912 examination centers,” Odongo stated. The UCE examinations are scheduled to commence on March 13, 2024, while the PLE examinations will begin on November 6, 2024. UACE examinations will start on March 20, 2024. Odongo urged candidates to prepare adequately for the examinations and adhere to the guidelines set by UNEB. “We appeal to candidates to put in their best efforts during this important time and avoid engaging in any form of malpractice,” he said. According to UNEB Senior Public Relations Officer Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the registered candidates will take the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Certificate of Advanced Education (UACE). The increase in registrations reflects confidence in the country’s education system, stated Kalule-Musamba. In addition to the regular exams, UNEB will conduct a transition exam for candidates who sat for UCE in 2023 or earlier or adult candidates who did not sit for PLE to acquire a UCE certificate. The deadline to register for the transition exam is June 21, 2024. Candidates who qualify under Universal Secondary Education (USE) can register for free, and those who do not have access to online registration can visit any UNEB examination center or nationally accredited examination room. The UCE examinations are scheduled to take place from March 18th to April 11th, 2024, while the UACE examinations will be held from May 5th to June 6th, 2024. Musamba advised candidates to prepare adequately for the examinations and to avoid engaging in any form of examination malpractice. She also reminded candidates to adhere to the examination regulations and to bring all the required materials to the examination venue. “We want to ensure that our examinations are fair and credible, and we expect candidates to play their part in maintaining the integrity of the process,” Musamba added.
