Joint Operations in DRC

Somalia Operations

In Somalia, the third phase of the drawdown of ATMIS (African Union Transition Mission in Somalia) troops is underway, with 4,000 troops expected to be withdrawn. The next phase of the withdrawal is anticipated in June 2024. Uganda has expressed concerns about accelerating the drawdown before Somalia develops sufficient capacity to address its security challenges. Despite a wave of clan resistance against Al-Shabaab in the Hiraan and Galmudug regions, the offensive campaign has faced setbacks.
