NWSC and JICA Partner to Enhance Public Service Delivery in Uganda The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have joined forces to launch a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing the capacity of public service workers in Uganda. The initiative, titled “Capacity Development for Public Service Management,” is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver efficient and effective public services. The program will focus on three key areas: * Water and Sanitation Management: Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the principles and practices of water and sanitation management, including operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems. * Public Service Governance: Emphasis will be placed on promoting transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in public service delivery. Participants will learn about ethical conduct, stakeholder engagement, and performance management. * Information and Communication Technology (ICT): Training will cover the application of ICT tools to streamline public service processes, improve communication, and enhance access to information. The program targets senior and middle-level managers from NWSC, as well as key stakeholders from regulatory bodies and government agencies. Through a combination of classroom lectures, workshops, and on-the-job training, participants will benefit from the expertise of Japanese experts and Ugandan professionals. “NWSC is committed to providing safe and affordable water and sanitation services to all Ugandans,” said Dr. Eng. The training program is expected to run for three years, with approximately 80 participants benefiting from the initiative.
