Albuquerque Ablaze: Downtown Buildings Ravaged by InfernoAlbuquerque Ablaze: Downtown Buildings Ravaged by Inferno Albuquerque, New Mexico – A raging inferno engulfed multiple buildings in downtown Albuquerque on Monday evening, causing extensive damage and displacing dozens of residents. According to fire officials, the blaze erupted around 6:00 PM in a historic building on Central Avenue. The fire quickly spread through the structure, fueled by strong winds and dry conditions. As firefighters battled the inferno, nearby buildings were also threatened. Two adjacent commercial buildings were destroyed, while a third was heavily damaged. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest it may have started in an electrical panel. Over 100 firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the scene. They faced intense heat, smoke, and shifting debris as they worked to contain the flames. The fire raged for several hours before it was brought under control. By early morning, the fire had been extinguished, but the damage had been done. Several businesses were located in the destroyed buildings, including a popular restaurant, a hair salon, and a clothing store. Many of the businesses have been forced to close indefinitely. Dozens of residents who lived in apartments above the businesses were evacuated and have been displaced. The Red Cross is assisting them with temporary housing and other necessities. “This is a devastating blow to our downtown community,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We are grateful to our firefighters for their tireless efforts, and we will work to support those affected by this tragedy.” The fire has had a significant impact on downtown Albuquerque. Central Avenue, a major thoroughfare, has been closed to traffic between 3rd and 5th Streets. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has joined the probe.
