Addressing the 10th Annual Africa CEO Roundtable in Victoria Falls, held under the theme “The Future of Africa: Modernize, Reshape and Grow”, the President commended the Africa CEO Roundtable for its focused debates and innovative platforms addressing key economic sectors.
“The Roundtable offers members and other business leaders a platform to network, gain expert opinions and express opinions on the local business environment,” Mnangagwa said.
He highlighted the critical role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in modernizing and reshaping Africa’s economies.
“We are currently on the verge of a technological revolution,” he said, highlighting the fusion of physical, digital and biological technologies.
This revolution, he added, is revolutionizing industries around the world, transforming production, management and governance systems.
The President urged businesses and policymakers to harness the potential of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to improve income levels and quality of life globally.
“Adapt quickly to changing market conditions through modernization initiatives,” he advised, expressing the benefits of increased productivity, better customer experience and cost savings.
Mnangagwa also called on state-owned enterprises to adopt modern technologies to provide affordable and quality services, crucial for national infrastructure, encouraging local authorities to use technologies for resource planning and risk management, essential for the development of intelligent cities.
Highlighting his government’s efforts to improve the business environment, Mnangagwa pointed to broad measures that improve Zimbabwe’s competitiveness and investment climate.
He urged exploring investment opportunities in key sectors such as trade, manufacturing, mining, agriculture and tourism.
He urged the business community to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which represents a vast market with a GDP of more than $3 trillion and a population exceeding 1.3 billion.
“By aligning the development of the North-South Corridor with the principles of the AfCFTA, we lay the foundation for smooth regional integration,” he said.
The President also highlighted the importance of addressing climate change, highlighting Zimbabwe’s National Climate Change Response Strategy.
Despite challenges such as the El Niño-induced drought, the President highlighted the positive growth trajectory of the economy with a GDP growth projection of 4.8 percent by 2024.
