Albuquerque Ablaze: Massive Fire Engulfs Warehouse DistrictAlbuquerque Ablaze: Massive Fire Engulfs Warehouse District Albuquerque, New Mexico – A raging inferno engulfed a sprawling warehouse district in Albuquerque early Friday morning, causing extensive damage and leaving firefighters battling the blaze for hours. The fire broke out at around 2:00 a.m. in a warehouse on Isleta Boulevard SW and rapidly spread to adjacent buildings. Thick, black smoke billowed into the sky, visible from miles around. Firefighters from multiple stations responded to the scene and faced intense heat and flames. According to Albuquerque Fire Rescue spokesman Tom Ruiz, over 100 firefighters were on the ground, using water cannons and aerial ladders to contain the fire. “It’s a very large fire, and it’s very challenging to fight,” Ruiz said. “The buildings are old and tinder-dry, so the fire is spreading rapidly.” The warehouse district is home to numerous businesses, including a lumberyard, a roofing supply company, and a food distribution center. Several businesses were completely destroyed, while others suffered substantial damage. As of Friday morning, the fire was still burning and firefighters were working to extinguish hot spots. No injuries have been reported so far. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Investigators are looking into the possibility of arson, but no suspects have been identified. Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller visited the scene and praised the firefighters for their bravery and dedication. “This is a devastating fire that has caused significant damage to our city,” Keller said. “But I want to thank our firefighters, who are risking their lives to get this under control.” The fire has caused major traffic disruptions in the area, with Isleta Boulevard SW closed from Bridge Boulevard to 7th Street SW. Residents and businesses in the vicinity are advised to stay informed about the latest road closures and avoid the area if possible.
