Crews Battle Three-Alarm Fire at Thorncliffe Park Toronto Fire Services (TFS) crews responded to a three-alarm fire at a residential apartment building in Thorncliffe Park, on Thursday evening. The fire broke out at around 5:30 pm, on the 25th floor of the building located at 45 Overlea Boulevard. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from a unit. Over 70 firefighters were deployed to the scene, and a third alarm was called to assist with the operation. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive interior attack while also conducting search and rescue operations. All residents were evacuated safely from the building. One firefighter was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The fire was brought under control at around 8:00 pm, after approximately two and a half hours of firefighting efforts. The extent of the damage to the unit and the building is still being assessed. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Toronto Fire Services Arson Unit. TFS Chief Matthew Pegg commended the firefighters for their swift and coordinated response, which prevented any serious injuries or loss of life.
