Joint Operations in DRC

However, ADF insurgents continue to cause havoc in the DRC, attacking civilian settlements and killing innocent people. Between May 4 and 7, the ADF killed 80 civilians in villages in the territory of Beni (North Kivu).
Somalia Operations
In Somalia, the third phase of the drawdown of ATMIS (African Union Transition Mission in Somalia) troops is underway, with 4,000 troops expected to be withdrawn. The next phase of the withdrawal is anticipated in June 2024. Uganda has expressed concerns about accelerating the drawdown before Somalia develops sufficient capacity to address its security challenges. Despite a wave of clan resistance against Al-Shabaab in the Hiraan and Galmudug regions, the offensive campaign has faced setbacks.
