The inaugural Pan-African Conference on Girls’ and Women’s Education was held at the African Union (AU) headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The four-day conference, held under the theme “Prioritizing Girls’ and Women’s Education: A Strategy to Increase Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality and Relevant Learning in Africa,” focused on assessing the state of women’s and girls’ education in Africa, supporting increased funding for women’s education, and strengthening support for high-level adoption of frameworks and policies that redefine gender roles. Mohamed Belhocine, African Union Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, emphasized the importance of high-quality and inclusive learning in addressing the continent’s challenges.
