The alleged incidents resulted in the aircraft’s diversion to Shannon Airport, where Dalziel was arrested. According to court documents, the assaults occurred on board flight EZY1902, a Ryanair service that departed from Glasgow International Airport at approximately 10:40 a.m. local time. The plane was scheduled to land in Tenerife, Spain, at 2:10 p.m., but was forced to divert to Shannon at around 1:30 p.m. due to the alleged disruptive behavior of a passenger. At Shannon Airport, Dalziel was taken into custody by Gardaí, the Irish police force. He was initially detained at Ennis Garda Station and later brought before Ennis District Court. Ryanair said in a statement that the crew of the flight “requested police assistance upon landing at Shannon Airport due to a passenger who was behaving disruptively”. “The aircraft landed normally and police removed and detained a passenger,” the statement said. “We will not tolerate unruly or disruptive behaviour at any time and the safety and security of our customers, crew and aircraft is our number one priority.”
