Okudzeto Ablakwa’s Wife Accused of Unethical and Unprofessional Court Document Service Ghanaian lawmaker Okudzeto Ablakwa has found himself embroiled in a legal dispute with political activist Paul Adom-Otchere, and his wife, Nuhela Seidu, has come under fire for her alleged unethical and unprofessional conduct in serving court documents on her husband. According to Adom-Otchere’s lawyers, Seidu, who is a lawyer herself, served the writ of summons on Ablakwa while he was attending a parliamentary sitting. They argue that this action violated established legal procedures and showed “blatant disregard for the dignity and decorum of the House.” The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has also expressed concern over Seidu’s actions. According to the GBA’s code of conduct, lawyers are expected to maintain professional courtesy and avoid any behavior that could bring the legal profession into disrepute. Critics argue that Seidu’s decision to serve the court documents during a parliamentary session was not only unethical but also unprofessional. They point out that Ablakwa was engaged in official duties at the time and should have been allowed to focus on his responsibilities without interruption. Adom-Otchere’s lawyers have requested that the court compel Ablakwa to formally respond to the writ of summons, despite the alleged improper service. They argue that the legal process has been undermined and that Ablakwa cannot avoid accountability for his actions. Ablakwa, for his part, has denied any wrongdoing and accused Adom-Otchere of engaging in “character assassination.” He has stated that he will defend himself against the allegations and that he respects the rule of law. The ongoing legal dispute has raised important questions about the ethical and professional conduct of lawyers in Ghana. The GBA has urged all lawyers to adhere to the highest standards of practice and to avoid any actions that could damage the reputation of the profession.Freddie Blay Accuses Okudzeto Ablakwa of Politicizing Court Case Involving His SonFreddie Blay Accuses Okudzeto Ablakwa of Politicizing Court Case Involving His Son Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) President, Freddie Blay, has accused North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, of exploiting a court case involving his son and a business partner for political gain. Blay claims that Ablakwa is using his wife to obtain court documents, a practice he deems unethical and unprofessional. During an interview on Oyerepa TV, Blay stated: “It is regrettable that a young man like Okudzeto Ablakwa would resort to cheap propaganda instead of contacting my sons to ascertain the facts. It is unfortunate that he is dragging his wife into this, politicizing it, and making it appear like they are practicing law.” In June, it was revealed that the former NPP National President’s son, Kwaw Worsemao Blay, may be involved in a contentious business transaction at the Labadi Beach Hotel. Ablakwa shared on social media that Loic Devos Junior, Blay’s former business partner, had filed a legal case against him. The suit, filed in the Accra High Court, alleges that Blay defrauded Devos Junior and denied him financial benefits from their joint ventures. Ablakwa claimed that this “hostile takeover” would have remained unknown if Devos Junior had not initiated legal action. The suit reveals that Devos Junior offered a partnership to Blay and that they jointly registered Gold Coast Expo Limited in 2019. The company organized events at Labadi Beach from 2019 to December 2021. Blay further criticized Ablakwa for allegedly using his wife’s legal background to access court documents. He said, “It is unethical for the wife to provide certain documents. It is unfortunate that you are dragging your wife into this, politicizing it, and making it seem like what they are practicing is law.”A lawsuit has been filed against the wife of Ghanaian politician Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, alleging unethical and unprofessional conduct in the service of court documents on her husband. The suit claims that the documents were served in a manner that violated established legal procedures and caused undue distress to Ablakwa. The plaintiff, a private citizen, asserts that the defendant, Ablakwa’s wife, served the documents at Ablakwa’s workplace, despite knowing that he was not present at the time. The documents were reportedly left with a security guard, who was not authorized to receive them on Ablakwa’s behalf. According to the lawsuit, this irregular service of documents prejudiced Ablakwa’s ability to respond to the legal action in a timely and appropriate manner. It is alleged that the defendant’s actions were deliberate and intended to obstruct the proper administration of justice. The plaintiff is seeking a declaration that the service of documents was invalid and a permanent injunction prohibiting the defendant from engaging in similar conduct in the future. The case is scheduled to be heard in court on an upcoming date.
